SIMPLY RUCKUS

What more could be said about Benji Pierson AKA "Ruckus" The man, in my opinion is one of a kind. If you know him, you would know what I'm saying and if you don't... well...better at least meet him once.

Born and raised in Seattle and dealt with Epilepsy for the first 15 years of his life. In turn, that gave him plenty of time to draw. He admired artists such as Joe Johnson and Ralph McQuarrie. Both Sci_Fi art geniuses. He went to college for graphic design but ended up quitting to go snowboarding. He moved to Jackson Hole in 2002 and has been causing a Ruckus since!

He is the Art Director for Storm Show Studios and he is also the primary artist for Rob Kingwill's Avalon 7 snowboarding collective. He Sci-Fi Graffiti style has been seen all around town and just recently at the Snake River Brewing Company. If you missed out on getting one of his pieces... here is a great opportunity to grab one while they are hot! There will be a variety of price ranges so don't be shy.

Dj Sessions from Seattle will also be there spinning some fresh beats for the crowd and who knows... Maybe there will be some Celebs there!

WOULD YOU CONSIDER THIS A MIX TAPE?

I have spun many a records and made plenty of mixes... But for some reason making Mixtapes are something completely different. When I was a kid, I would make mix tapes with my Boombox and WPLJ Radio station. Little did I know there was an art to making a mix tape. It was not only making a list of songs that would work together, but also making sure the EQ's were also dialed and the art work for the cover was cool. Making a mixtape for a girlrfiend or ex-girlfriend was a totally different art form and I know that you know what I'm talking about. I made so many over the years and of course I can't find any of them. Since I started DJ'ing, I have made several mixtapes. Actually I think I made about 10 or so actual "Mixtapes." Damn... I wish I still had some of those. I got my computer around 2000 and started making mix cd's. I fucking hated calling them that. I have made quite a few mix cd's and once again I think I actually have only 2 mixes on record... oh well. Every time you would say "mixtape," people would be like... "They still make tapes?" Anyway... They are always going to be mixtapes to me and I always love making them. I have just recently got a copy of my last mix from my friend because, of course, I don't have one. I figured I would share this with you. I only tried this mix about 5 times before I had to have a CD Release Party. I'm stoked on it... So enjoy!

CLUB BANGIN' BEATS FOR THE MASSES

Thursday nights at the Town Square Tavern have been an interesting journey. We have has some great nights with a packed bar and we have had some awful nights with about 8 people. All in all... it has been good, but I must say, there is weird cool guy thing going on. I mean most of my cool friends decided that the place is stale and looks like a airport bar with Salmon colored seats. I really do not think that should matter. I think what matters is the music and the scene that it would be if they actually showed up! I should not get upset about this... I mean I have done weekly gigs in this town for about 10 years now and I should be over it, but it is a part of my life... my music... my passion to play for a crowd. This is getting weird so just support the scene and stop being cool.

KRASH KARMA LIVE IN JACKSON HOLE!

KRASHKARMA plays songs with riffs, not riffs trying to be songs - with hooks Rick Rubin wished he would hear when he produced SLAYER. The male main vocalist provides the perfect playground for a female drummer who also sings and makes LINKIN PARK sound like BRITNEY SPEARS. Guaranteed goose bumps if you are not already dead...

Starting in 2005 under the name SUICIDE HOLIDAY, KRASHKARMA has independently booked 8 national tours, played over 250 shows, including Germany, produced two EPs and sold over 4000 units out of the back of their '78 Dodge Van. This did not go unnoticed in the Hollywood scene as they won the "Rock City News Award" for " best independent touring band" in December 2007.
The Los Angeles based band was formed by Ralf Dietel after his 30 day career as NINE INCH NAILS guitar player.

The producer/singer/guitarist moved to the US from Germany where he stole the stage from bands such as FOO FIGHTERS and RAMMSTEIN. On the drums and vocals is the award winning Nicole Skistimas, whose dangerous style and sound are emblematic to the core vision of KRASHKARMA: a pretty girl who doesn't just play the drums, she destroys them.
In 2008 the band recorded and self released a new song every month along with a video to go with it on their webpage, placed songs in independent movies and have recently begun writing and licensing music for FOX SPORTS .

KRASHKARMA will release their new EP "seven deadly sounds" on Jan 11th, 2009. This will be followed by a North West tour through February , a South West tour to SXSW in march and a national tour into the summer which will lead the band back to Europe till fall.
KRASHKARMA is powered by BC RICH, DDRUM, PRESONUS, PAISTE and FXPANSION

KRASHKARMA is playing live at the Pink Garter Theatre in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on Sunday January 25, 2008. Doors open at 8:00pm. Ticket are $15 at the door. THIS IS AN ALL AGES SHOW THAT SHOULD NOT BE MISSED! DJ VERT-ONE will be opening with some metal to fill your pre-show heads!

OBAMA...DAFT PUNK VS. ADAM FREELAND STYLEE!!!

The following is a mixed-media stop motion music video and celebration commemorating the election and inauguration of Barack Obama as the forty-fourth president of these United States. Audibly showcasing Adam Freeland's remix of Daft Punk's "Aerodynamic" and the imaginative stylings of forward thinking toy artists Dalek, Bill McMullen and Kubrick to name just a few. Independently animated and directed by the progressive minds of the directing team GOLD, the piece is a labor of love that invites everyone to join in or create their own celebration this coming Tuesday, January 20th. COME CORRECT!!!

DAWN PATROL

Russ and I ended the season hiking in the mountains and started the season hiking in the mountains. Dawn patrol at Teton Pass is where we were this morning and it was awesome. We were the first people up there and Russ was all types of amped up. A cold start with the usual shit going down... wrestling my back pack, fiddling with my pole, while Russ has been up since 4am all types of amped up as usual but that is way the it should be. We were hiking for powder turns and that is what we got! I have not been up there in a while and I had forgotten how amazing it is up there. Crisp cool air, sun shining and fresh powder. The turns were great for the most part with marginal amounts of rocks(my board is feeling it). Good times today... Winter is finally here. I hope it sticks around for a little bit.

SLAVE AWAY...KEEP WORKIN' IT!

I came across this coupon the other day and thought I should share it with you. I don' t think this would work where I live which is something like the 2nd richest county in America. This could probably work somewhere in the Midwest or possibly somewhere in the South... anyway you look at it, dreams are made of money nowadays and only we can make these dreams happen by pretending we have money or credit...

This track has nothing to do with this post but this brings me back to 1984 when things were good... not that they are not good now, but you know what I mean.

CHANGE HAS COME

Well here we are... man this is finally happening and it does feel good to know that we are in good hands, but it will take more than Obama to make this "Change" happen. We need to step up and support that Change like he said in his speech last night. We did win as Americans and now the real work begins. Let's make it happen! Wow... that sounds pretty positive huh? Word... check this track out from the Screaming Trees from 1988 when another change was happening in music... remember that?
