I have spun many a records and made plenty of mixes... But for some reason making Mixtapes are something completely different. When I was a kid, I would make mix tapes with my Boombox and WPLJ Radio station. Little did I know there was an art to making a mix tape. It was not only making a list of songs that would work together, but also making sure the EQ's were also dialed and the art work for the cover was cool. Making a mixtape for a girlrfiend or ex-girlfriend was a totally different art form and I know that you know what I'm talking about. I made so many over the years and of course I can't find any of them. Since I started DJ'ing, I have made several mixtapes. Actually I think I made about 10 or so actual "Mixtapes." Damn... I wish I still had some of those. I got my computer around 2000 and started making mix cd's. I fucking hated calling them that. I have made quite a few mix cd's and once again I think I actually have only 2 mixes on record... oh well. Every time you would say "mixtape," people would be like... "They still make tapes?" Anyway... They are always going to be mixtapes to me and I always love making them. I have just recently got a copy of my last mix from my friend because, of course, I don't have one. I figured I would share this with you. I only tried this mix about 5 times before I had to have a CD Release Party. I'm stoked on it... So enjoy!

hey vertwahn - i too have been making mixtapes for the last forever, sometimes 3 or 4 per year. there's something about compiling a bunch of songs that speak to you at that particular moment, working them all out in the right sequence that makes sense, then recording & listening to it as a whole comp. since getting my macintosh personal laptop computing device, i've been able to save each new one as a playlist. it's fun to go back & listen to the old mixes & check in on where my head was at during that time. even on those old mixes, many of the songs still resonate; and probably will for the rest of my life.
