All my life I have never really been into politics and I can say I am not into them still. Over the years especially in the last four years since Bush got re-elected President did I actually care about our situation in America and this silly War thing! I am not educated to talk my smack about the war nor about our economic situation other than we all seem to be in some trouble with the state we are in. I think greed has finally caught up to us and now we are all paying the price except for maybe Bush and Cheney... I'm sure they will get their share of helplessness. Anyway I am going to vote again for the second time in my life. For me that is a huge step. It is about time I care about what is happening now and what will happen in the future. I have traveled around the world and seen many things... uuhh what? No... scratch that! I have been living in Jackson Hole, Wyoming for just about 18 years. My inspiration to create art has been missing since then. Don't get me wrong... there is quite a bit of inspiring subjects here like the mountains, rivers, snowboarding, fishing, dirtbiking and any other outdoor activity you can think of. The art scene is ok and has plenty to offer but there is always something missing like... diversity. I do not want to open up a can of worms here so I won't. I have recently been inspired to create art again, particularly paint. It is tough for me to do this considering my life in he fast lane... he he he! Really, I'm stoked about the resurgence. These are just a couple of pieces that I am happy with new and old and the tracks that I am posting are just a bonus for my inspiration...enjoy!

WORK IN PROGRESS ART SHOW KICKED ASS!!!

The Work In Progress Show was a huge success and I can't even tell you how stoked I am! My friend Lora wrote up a great article in her blog on FUEL TV.  I'm so pumped on it! I am still trying to locate photos from the night and I will do a full story on it when I get everything together. Sorry...

WORK IN PROGRESS 4 is confirmed for August 15, 2008. It is back and man... it's going to be a great one. Celebrating 20+ years of Skateboard Art and the art of the paint pen! We are banding together the all star cast of artists from our previous shows... Ruckas, Cutter, Tim Ramirez, Anika Youcha, Heather Hannan, John Burke, Rich Goodwin, Ryan Haworth, Meagan Schwartz, The Anomaly Boys, Willie McMillon, Evan Grainger and Mike Teirney. The best of the best... it's happening! Each person will have there own personal blank skate deck and they will start creating there piece starting at 6:00 pm. They will have roughly 4 hours to complete their project. There will also be a silent auction going on for the duration of the show with starting bids around $60-$70... so bring your wallets and show these artists some love. We will have food from Back Country Provisions, booze from The Brew Pub and hopefully Red Bull and Vodka, possibly support from my buddy Rhette (Bacardi, Jack Daniels), Mark from the Boardroom is donating some boards, Igneous is donating some longboards, Jeff Grainger is letting me use his shop space for the evening. My friend from Salt Lake (Good Times Tattoos), Thai Lee is going to inject some ink into my good friend Dustin Varga. That has been a Work In Progress for the last 2 years! We will also have a DJ spinning some sort of appropriate beats. I am very excited for this years event and I am looking for the blowout crowds that the event is known for. Come check it out! OH YES IT'S LADIES NIGHT!!!

It has been a great turn out on Thursday Nights at the TST. This place can hold quite a few people, so even when there is 200-250 people in there, it still seems like it's not packed. Thanks to all the ladies that come out in there Summer dresses and also thanks to the dude's for behaving themselves. This night is really for for us because we play two types of music... Country and Western! Naw... we get to play almost whatever we want and what the crowd grooves on. Thanks for the support and we will see you out!

TAKING IT BACK TO THE CLUB!

We have been doing weeklies here in Jackson Hole for so long now and in so many different places around town I can't even count how many we have done. We've done club nights, disco nights, hiphop nights, eighties nights, jazz nights... whatever night we could have come up with to keep our scene going. After about 12 years, here we are again... Ladies Night at the Town Square Tavern. We started doing Ladies Night  a couple of weeks ago and really, I was totally freaked because we had just quit the Coach after a 7 year stint and not really knowing if this was going to work to be quite honest. Well it ended up be a great first night. Mikey held it down and kept the crowd wanting more as always. The first night of any gig is always on the edge of not happening. July 4th weekend definitely fueled the fire. Anyway... what I am trying to get at is that I want to bring back the club on Thursday Nights and get the crowd fired up to dance without a full night of top forty. Nothing is wrong with the top forty stuff, but there is something to be said about some good thick beats rolling out of the speakers and the sub just rumbling! I do miss that and we used to have those nights at The Cuvee'... remember that people!!! I want people to enjoy coming out and dancing there asses off without the worry of mainstream music playing... all night. Please do not get me wrong, we need that stuff because people are not comfortable with stuff that they don't know so we are not leaving this completely out of the show, but we are trying to BRING IT BACK TO THE CLUB!!! Just come out with your lady friends, get down and have a great time. That is all we can ask for. I posted some tracks that I thought were appropriate for the subject... ENJOY!

Martha Cooper was a photo-journalist living in New York City when she first began documenting the origins of B-boy (short for break-boys) and hip hop culture. While other New Yorkers at the time saw this movement as a trite, uninspired or even offensive fad, Martha found a new form of expressing art. Through her camera lens we recount the infancy of hip-hop culture, from the alleys and subways of New York to the masses beyond the boroughs. HipHop needs this kind of style again... really!

NEW THURSDAY NIGHT FOR FOUR4!!!

Well it has been a sort of long time coming, so Four4 is calling it quits for the Legendary Disco Night at The Stagecoach Bar. We have been playing that night for over 7 years. Our friend Andre started that night about 6 years before us, so that night has been a huge success for almost 14 years! We had some really great nights there and also had some really horrible nights. All in all it was great times and great people. Thanks to everyone all who always made it happen for us. On a new note... we have a new night going down. LADIES NIGHT at the Town Square Tavern starting July 3rd and it will happen every Thursday with Vert-One and Mike Thunder and special guest from our crew will help us and the ladies get live! Come and check us out! It's going to be an amazing summer here in Jackson Hole so get ready to get down.

LIFE IS GREAT!!!

So I'm finally getting over from a weekend of drinking way too many Margs and way too many Stella's. My Sex and the City party at the Town Square Tavern went off and I had a great time. Great turn out with people throughout the whole bar and a steady dance floor all night. Come Sunday morning...10:00 and my head kind of hurts, but that doesn't stop me from going to Jackson Hole Film Festival's special film "199 Lives." A story about my favorite Nut Case of a guy, Travis Pastrana. If you do not know who Travis is... well I don't know what to say other than this kid takes the word EXTREME and rips it apart with whatever he can get his hands on... mostly from twisting the throttle of his RM 250 dirt bike. He basically transforms himself from a world class motocross racer to the worlds best freestyle motocrosser ever. This film is not just about him hucking his meat, but his life from a person with a passion for Adrenalin. The double back flip at the 2006 X games was definitely impressive enough, but there are some pretty amazing footage of him jumping out of planes with no parachute, launching into the Grand Canyon with a girl holding on to him riding a motorcycle (road bike) and rally car racing. If you take Evel Knievel's life and multiply it by 10, you'll get Travis Pastrana's. And he's just 24 years old. He is surprisingly a living legend willing to take these calculated risks with the reward of living. Check out the flick when it comes out on DVD. In the meantime watch this teaser. I am not going to sugar coat this. I miss this fucking kid!!! Chris Blank aka KING WEEP. He passed in November 2005 and things have not been the same since. It is like that when good people and good things pass regardless. This dude was special though... you could see it in his eyes. Soft spoken, fragile, righteous, soulful, skinny, loud, talented... you get it. People gravitated towards him as if he was some sort of soothsayer... a saint who had come to tell you that everything will be o.k. no matter what goes down. He was a chick and  a dude magnet, if you will.  A light would shine on him and he made people feel warm around him. Granted sometimes I really wanted to kick his ass in, but that's what brother do... right? 23 years is a long time to be close friends with someone. We stayed pretty close and solid from the beginning... High School, Skateboarding, New York, Snowboarding, Vermont, Skateboarding, Arizona, Skateboarding, New York, Skateboarding, Philly, Skateboarding, Wyoming, Snowboarding, Skating, Climbing, Fishing, Mountainbiking, Music, DJing etc...Damn those were great times. Getting too heavy... this kid was solid and he is missed by many people that he met everywhere he was. Let's all tilt our heads up and praise the man KING WEEP. He is always with us. Take it light and stay righteous... PEACE MY BROTHER.
